Society for the Study of Women’s Health – Preventing Early Marriage in Rural Gambia

We are pleased to share media documentation of our early marriage project. The project seeks to study the factors that perpetuate early marriage for girls in rural Gambia; then to use the information generated to design and test a relevant package of context-specific and culturally relevant interventions to reduce the prevalence of early marriage. Over the last two decades early marriage for girls in The Gambia declined significantly (from 58% to 30%), however this rate is still high.
