Gender, Equality and Inclusion Specialist
Society for the Study of Women’s Health (SSWH), a local scientific organization that seeks to promote the health and social well-being of women in The Gambia through applied research and evidence-based advocacy is seeking to recruit Gender, Equality, and Inclusion Specialist for its implementation research project titled, Shifting Gender Norms for Improved Maternal and Adolescent Health in The Gambia.
The Shifting Gender Norms for Improved Maternal and Adolescent Health in The Gambia project will have gender, equality, and inclusion frameworks that will be used to guide project operations as well as engagement with stakeholders and communities. There will be a Gender, Equality, and Inclusion Specialist with the task of ensuring gender, equality, and inclusion considerations are mainstreamed across the various aspects of the project design, implementation, and evaluation.
Required qualifications and experience:
- A Ph.D. or a post-graduate qualification (Master’s level) with 3-5 years of experience, or commensurate experience in developing, implementing, and/or monitoring activities that foster the inclusion of women, adolescents, and other marginalized communities into gender and development programming.
- Knowledge of human-rights-based approach to development programming.
Roles:
- Ensuring gender and equality considerations are captured and included across the various aspects of the project.
- Develop integrated activities that support the inclusion of women and marginalized groups into the project activities and Theory of Change (ToC).
- Provide technical insights and resources to support the integration of gender, equality, and inclusion considerations in project activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Reporting:
- The Gender, Equality, and Inclusion Specialist will report to the Project Principal Investigator (PI) and Director of SSWH.
